Common Questions
An insurance broker acts on your behalf not the insurer's. We assess your risks, access the full market, and place cover that fits your situation. When a claim arises, we advocate for you to make sure it's handled fairly and promptly. Unlike going direct to an insurer, you get independent advice with no obligation to a single provider.
We receive a commission from the insurer when we place cover on your behalf. This is built into your premium and is disclosed to you before placement. In some cases a fee may apply this will always be agreed with you upfront. Full details are set out in our Disclosure Statement.
As a Steadfast member broker, we have access to over 160 insurance products from a wide panel of New Zealand and international insurers including Vero, NZI, QBE, AIG, DUAL, ANDO, and Lloyd's of London. We are not tied to any single insurer, which means we can genuinely compare the market and place your cover where it best fits.
Contact us as soon as possible after an incident before you contact the insurer directly. We'll guide you through what to document, manage the notification process, and advocate on your behalf throughout the settlement. Claims advocacy is a core part of what we do.
You can go direct, but you'll be limited to that insurer's products and advised by someone who works for them not you. A broker gives you access to the full market, independent advice, and representation if a claim is disputed. For businesses in particular, the difference in policy wording and claims outcomes can be substantial.
