What you need to know
Events carry a unique combination of risks large crowds, temporary infrastructure, international artists, and dependence on weather and third-party suppliers. Standard liability policies are not designed to respond to the complexity of a major event. Stainton & Co. works with event organisers, promoters, and production companies to arrange insurance programmes that address the full scope of event risk, from pre-event planning through to pack-down.
We have experience working with music events, festivals, and events involving international acts. Whether you are running a local festival or a large-scale touring production, we understand what can go wrong and how to make sure your cover responds when it does.
What we help with
A comprehensive events insurance programme, structured to protect organisers and venues against cancellation, postponement, public liability, equipment damage, and adverse weather losses — ensuring the investment and effort behind every event is properly protected against circumstances entirely beyond your control.
What's generally covered
Public & Products Liability
Essential cover for any event. Protects against claims for bodily injury or property damage suffered by attendees, vendors, or third parties. Limits and conditions are typically specified by venues and councils.
Cancellation & Abandonment
Covers financial loss arising from the cancellation, abandonment, postponement, or curtailment of the event due to circumstances outside your control. Covers non-recoverable costs and lost revenue.
Non-Appearance of Performers
Covers the financial loss arising from a headline act or key performer failing to appear due to illness, injury, or other covered cause. Particularly relevant for events where ticket sales are driven by a specific act.
Adverse Weather
Covers additional costs or financial losses arising from severe weather that forces cancellation or significant disruption to an outdoor event.
Employers Liability
Covers legal liability to paid staff for claims that fall outside of ACC. Required for any event using paid employees or contractors engaged as employees.
Temporary Structures
Covers stages, marquees, grandstands, and other temporary structures for physical damage and liability arising from their use at the event.
Equipment & Production
Covers sound, lighting, staging, and production equipment owned, hired, or leased for the event. Includes transit cover where equipment is being moved between venues.
Terrorism Extension
Available as an extension to event liability and cancellation policies. Increasingly requested by venues and councils as a condition of approval.
Note: Event insurance requirements vary significantly by event size, type, and venue conditions. We recommend engaging us early in the planning process not in the week before the event.
